Safety travels on the bus

Public transport by bus in cities is designed, generally speaking, as a succession of stops where passengers get on and off the vehicle according to their destination, and where users may travel either standing or seated. These peculiarities of urban transport mean that when buses stop, the movement of people around the bus is high, thus multiplying the possibilities of an accident, as the driver cannot be certain as to the presence of obstacles or people in the immediate vicinity of the bus.

Moreover, people that travel standing up may fall and get hurt, particularly the older people. The objective of the SAFEBUS project is to minimise accidents inside or around city buses, as well as the related injuries. By developing new technological breakthroughs and ergonomic solutions, the project seeks to directly improve quality of life for people.
